Summer of Love 40th Anniversary Festival

Yesterday I went to the Festival of the River in Arlington, Washington and watched a bunch of San Francisco bands celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love. It was a great lineup of acts who all had played at Monterey Pop in 1967. The bands were Jefferson Starship, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, It's a Beautiful Day, and Tom Constanten from the Grateful Dead.

The really cool thing about the festival was it was hosted by the Stillaguamish Indians, and it was all free! For cheap, you could buy an incredible salmon meal with fresh corn on the cob, delicious watermelon, bread and pop. There was no alcohol at the festival, and as far as I could see, no drugs. It was a super mellow scene, and we had a really fun time!

Here are some photos that I took of the bands.
